This delightful former railwayman's cottage is situated in La Haye du Puits on the Cherbourg peninsula only forty minutes away from the ferry port at Cherbourg. The cottage is situated 5 minutes on foot from a bustling market town, next to the Green route footpath. Bicycles provided!
The town of le Haye du Puits has plenty of good bars and restaurants and large supermarkets. It also boasts a fine church, a Wednesday market and banks.
Nearby beaches (10 mins) are quiet even in the height of the season with sand and the excellent water quality making them ideal for children.
A short drive away is the harbour town of Port Bail, which has a horse-riding centre and runs regular ferries to the Channel Isles in the summer months. The Voie Vert is a legacy of SNCFs railway rationalization, with more than 200km of tracks converted to footpaths and cycleways. All the historic sites of Normandy, the landing beaches and war cemeteries, the Caen Memorial, Mont St Michel, St. Lo and Bayeux are within easy reach and the whole area has wonderful scenery and good traditional food.
